Dental Implants in Groton, MA

Long-Term Tooth Replacement With Beautiful Results

If you have teeth that are missing or badly damaged beyond the point of saving, our oral surgeons can restore them with dental implants. By replicating the look, feel, and function of natural teeth, dental implants provide patients with long-lasting replacement teeth that restore oral health and confidence in your smile.

Dr. Garibyan and Dr. Kuang specialize in implant dentistry and offer many types of dental implants at Premier Center for Oral, Dental Implant & Facial Surgery. By using advanced technology and techniques, we are able to treat patients who had a previous implant fail, or who have been told they do not qualify for implant placement. If you are ready to achieve a healthy and complete smile, contact our practice in Groton, MA, today to schedule a consultation.

How a Dental Implant Works

Dental implants are made of three parts that work together: a titanium screw, an abutment, and a crown. The post is surgically inserted into the jaw bone and acts just like a natural tooth root. Because of this secure foundation, dental implants are strong and are able to withstand the biting and chewing force of natural teeth.

X-Guide® 3D Navigation

Our practice uses the revolutionary X-Guide system designed by X-Nav Technologies, which is the most advanced dental implant technology available. This dynamic 3D navigation system provides more accurate dental implant surgery by providing turn-by-turn guidance to your oral surgeon. While placing a dental implant, your surgeon has a 360-degree live view of your anatomy and guidance that improves the accuracy of implant position, angle, and depth.

X-Guide also makes same-day guided surgery a possibility for more patients at a fraction of the cost of traditional surgical guides. This technology benefits patients in numerous ways:

  • Minimally invasive surgery thanks to smaller incisions
  • Patients experience less pain and faster recovery
  • Visualizing placement leads to better aesthetic outcomes
  • Your surgeon is still in complete control during surgery, but has the guides for more precision

By enhancing accuracy during implant placement, we produce better surgical experiences and clinical results for our patients. You can learn more about X-Guide and how it works on the official X-Nav Technologies website for patients.

Types of Dental Implants

There are many types of tooth restoration available. During your consultation, your surgeon will create a treatment plan based around your specific oral health needs and financial situation.

  • Single Tooth Replacement. We can insert a dental implant anywhere in your mouth where you would like a new tooth and have enough jaw bone to support it.
  • Multiple Teeth Replacement. If you have several teeth that need to be replaced, we can insert multiple individual implants or an implant-supported bridge. Instead of relying on your existing teeth for support, an implant-supported bridge supports itself while also preventing bone loss.
  • Same-Day Dental Implants. We understand the anxiety that can sometimes come with needing a tooth extracted. If you have enough jaw bone, we can insert a dental implant immediately following tooth extraction, so you don't have to go without a tooth and can reduce the number of appointments necessary.
  • Teeth in a Day. Our surgeons can provide you with a brand new smile in just one visit. By using several implant posts, we secure a fixed denture in one or both arches for a fully functioning and beautiful new smile you will love.
  • Zygomatic Implants. Zygomatic implants replace teeth in the upper jaw and are inserted into the zygomatic bone, or cheek bone. This is ideal for patients who lack sufficient bone in the upper jaw but who still desire implants.
  • Pterygoid Implants. Patients who require upper jaw implants but who lack sufficient bone and are not suitable for a sinus lift procedure may receive pterygoid implants. These implants are inserted into the pterygoid plate in the skull and overcome the need for augmentation procedures.

Dental Implant Surgery

When you visit Premier Center for Oral, Dental Implant & Facial Surgery, you will meet with Dr. Garibyan or Dr. Kuang. Our team will take 3D scans of your mouth and answer your questions regarding treatment. We will also discuss your anesthesia and sedation options and PRP/PRF treatment for a faster recovery. Most patients undergo IV sedation for implant placement. When undergoing IV sedation, you must arrange for someone to drive you to your surgical procedure, stay in the office, and drive you home afterward.

On the day of your surgery, we will safely administer the selected form of anesthesia. Your oral surgeon will make a small incision in the gum tissue, insert the implant post, and apply sutures as necessary. If you are receiving a same-day implant, your surgeon will extract the tooth and insert the implant post into the empty tooth socket.

Over the next few months, the implant will fuse with the jaw bone. You will return to our office to have the abutment placed if this was not done during the initial surgery. Once healed, your dentist will create and place the final crown and your implant treatment will be complete.

Types of Anesthesia

Our practice offers a variety of anesthesia and sedation options.

Cost of Dental Implants in Groton, MA

The price of dental implants is different for every patient. Several items factor into this price, such as the number of implants, if extractions or bone grafts are necessary, the choice of anesthesia, insurance details, and the overall complexity of surgery. Our practice is in-network with most major insurance providers and are happy to help maximize your coverage. To find out how much your dental implants would cost, contact our office to schedule a consultation.

Denture Replacement With Dental Implants

Many patients who wear dentures find them uncomfortable and seek a better alternative. Dental implants are an ideal solution and can replace partial or full dentures with long-lasting results. Traditional dentures rest on the bony ridge in the mouth and must be replaced every few years. If not professionally fitted, they can cause sores or slip when speaking.

With our Teeth in a Day treatment, we secure a fixed denture with dental implants. Your new teeth will stay in place, even while eating, and do not need to be replaced with proper care. Fixed dentures drastically improve the comfort and function of your replacement teeth and also prevent jaw bone loss, which removable dentures do not. Contact us today if you're ready to explore your denture replacement options in Groton, MA.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do teeth implants last?

On average, dental implants can last for several decades. By maintaining proper oral hygiene and taking care of your implants, they can potentially last a lifetime.

Who is not a good candidate for dental implants?

Patients with periodontal disease, significant jaw bone loss, or who have suppressed immune systems may not qualify for implants. Through the use of bone grafting treatments, we are able to help more patients become candidates for dental implants. If you were previously told that you cannot receive dental implants, we invite you to contact us. Our surgeons may be able to help you qualify.

Are tooth implants painful?

We offer anesthesia and sedation options to ensure a comfortable, calm surgical experience. Most patients report little to no discomfort throughout dental implant surgery and recovery.

Am I too old for a dental implant?

There is no maximum age for a dental implant. As long as you have an adequate jaw bone, you can receive a dental implant at any age. The minimum recommended age for implants is typically after the jaw stops developing, which is during the late teens or early twenties.
